Dr Herbert Wigwe was invited as a guest speaker for the 2018 African Philanthropy Forum (APF), The APF is a strong and vibrant community of givers who through their strategic investments, partnerships, and influence, foster inclusive and sustainable development on the African Continent.
This years APF was held on the 1st and 2nd of August in Johannesburg, South Africa, the there “POTENTIAL AND REALITY: BRIDGING THE GAP”, and sample from the website describing the choice of this years theme states; “For over a decade, many have talked about the potential of African economies and the imminent economic boom on the continent. Although there has been exponential growth in the continent’s largest economies, more than half its economies have either slowed down. At this year conference, delegates will discuss the role of philanthropists and social investors in bridging the gap between Africa’s potential and its reality while focusing on collaborative actions to effect this change.” Amongst other notable speakers, present at the conference a few were Gbenga Oyebode, founder of the Aluko and Oyebode Foundation, Ndidi Nwuneli, Managing Partner, Sahel Consulting; Co-Founder, AACE Foods; Founder, LEAP Africa, Toye Cole, Co-Founder,Sahara Group, DR Obiangeli Ezekwesili Senior Economic Advisor, AEDPI, Dr. (Mrs) Obiageli Ezekwesili is a Public Policy Analyst / Senior Economic.
